A canalised river running from Angers to Mayenne via 45 locks. The Carto-Guide Fluvial gives it a one-star rating and it passes through the beautiful towns of Chateau Gontier and Laval.

The canal consists of the following:-
  • Angers - Chateau Gontier - 49.45 kms.
  • Chateau Gontier - Laval - 32.16 kms.
  • Laval - Mayenne - 32.68 kms.
Total length of the canal is 114.29 kms.

Be sure to use the satellite option given by Google Maps to view the course of the canal. You will find some deviation between the canal's true course and our map - we wil get round to replotting our map at some time !
