French golfing holidays - Golfing from La Ruelmain

La Ruelmain is within reach of a huge number of golf courses and many of our guest enjoy the contrast of a different sort of Brittany golfing holiday by savouring new courses in the day and returning to Ruelmain's rural peace for the evening.

And so we are quite sure we should have a golf page (because our visitors tell us so) but we are not golfers, and our minds boggle. We are working on a list of accessible courses: this is to whet your appetite, with a promise to add to new courses as we discover facts we are sure of.
  • One of the most famous courses in France, La Bretesche, is set in the grounds of a fairytale castle at Missillac, just 6 miles away. Par 72, 6330 yards with lush fairways, lovely mature parkland views and a few ego-boosting birdie opportunities. http://www.bretesche.com/us/legolf.asp
  • The elegant Atlantic resort of La Baule, about 20 miles away, is home to the renowned Golf international Barriere La Baule which extends over more than 220 hectares along the edge of the Briere Regional Park. There are three courses: the Lucien Barriere . . . 18 holes 6,622 yards, par72 with several challenging water obstacles; the Diane Barriere Desseigne . . . 18 holes 6,890 yards, par72; and the Francois Andre. . . 9 holes. 3,238 yards, par36, in a marvelous natural setting and suitable for all levels. http://www.golfinfrance.f9.co.uk/labaule.htm
  • Pornic golf course, about 35 miles, south of St Nazaire is in the centre of a favourite seaside resort. 6082 meters, par 72, a course of contrasts with wooded areas balanced by great wide spaces reminiscent of a Scottish links. http://www.golfinfrance.f9.co.uk/pornicgc.htm
